School’s not even out yet, but there’s a tempting aroma of summertime fun in the air as a number of regional festivals pop up on the calendar.

The best of the best seem to be centered in Wine Country, just a few scenic hours’ drive from Los Altos, but Lake Tahoe also beckons.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre lured me over to that former hotbed of radicalism on a recent Sunday to attend “Fallaci,” the eponymous play about the feisty Italian journalist.

Written by Lawrence Wright and directed by Oskar Eustis, the play recounts Oriana Fallaci’s life story as told to a New York Times reporter, Maryam.

Colorful American cars from the 1940s are parked in front of El Capitolio, Havana’s former seat of government. The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce has planned a guided tour of Cuba in the fall.

Move over, Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

The Los Altos Chamber of Commerce plans to shepherd 30-60 local residents on a U.S. Treasury Department-sanctioned visit to Havana, Cuba, Oct. 31 to Nov. 7.
