Developer Abigail Ahrens’ downtown Los Altos hotel, Enchanté, reached a new phase of construction recently when crews began framing work on the 12,000-square-foot project at 1 Main St. Construction on the boutique hotel – which features 18 guest rooms, a bistro bar and a public gathering space – began last November. In her bid to use local merchants, Ahrens reported that Vintage Bath at 351 Main St. would supply the hotel’s plumbing fixtures. The $8 million hotel project is expected to take 15 months to complete.

Stocks may “get scary” in May, he predicted.

Prices for industrial commodities have slumped, as have prices for gasoline and crude oil. The poor inflation outlook reflects worries about faltering demand.

Select Windows Inc. owner Tony Rebagliati, foreground, celebrates 20 years of business in Los Altos this summer. Rebagliati has operated his business since 1997, with help from high school friend Dave Brumley, back.

Longtime Los Altos merchant Tony Rebagliati knows a thing or two about the panes and gains – pardon the pun – of running a small business.

Apparently, he knows a thing or two about longevity as well.
